AOL-TW Racks Up Another Open Source Coup: BSDi 12
Alert (or at least awake) reader deran9ed points out this article covering AOL Time-Warner's acquisition of BSDi. Sounds like AOL has been busy with acquisitions lately; best of luck any software engineers displaced by the move. Hopefully we'll see an integration of OpenSSH and AIM as well.

OTOH, this is a good thing for BSD. They now have something Linux doesn't--100% backed by a Fortune 100 company. Even tho Linux has Sun and IBM, each company will still continue to push Solaris and AIX, respectively. I am excited by the possibilities of what this could do for BSD.

Slashdot.org will no longer be viewable from "http://slashdot.org/" you will now have to use "AOL Keyword: Slashdot" instead. Maybe I should keep my mouth shut, wouldn't that be awful if we all had to sign up with AOL just to view Slashdot?
