MarkWhittington writes "At a recent town hall in Dallas, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a candidate for president of the United States, was asked about the Space Launch System, the heavy lift launcher that is the centerpiece of NASA's space exploration program. Gingrich denounced the SLS as pork and proposed what he considers a better idea. Gingrich wants space prize competitions, including a return to the moon prize, to replace NASA's Apollo project model."
